Portland community organization chosen as first site of new blood pressure control effort by the American Heart Association
Over the next three years the American Heart Association, with the support of Providence Health Plan, will introduce 20 self-measured blood pressure programs in clinics and community organizations across Oregon and Washington

Dr. Laurel Soot, Providence Health Plan chief medical officer, and American Heart Association volunteer board member, Oregon and southwest Washington and Don Antonucci, Providence Health Plan president and chief executive officer, and American Heart Association volunteer board member, Western States
Laurel explains that heart health and blood pressure go hand in hand, and hypertension is very treatable with lifestyle changes and medication. You can prevent heart disease and stroke by identifying people with high blood pressure and having it appropriately treated. Don speaks to the partnership between our organizations and the difference we'll make in the community.

Being able to monitor blood pressure consistently and at home will lead to more accurate readings. Kim speaks to the huge impact this will have in regards to their goal in developing increasing positive health outcomes for our students, the families in our community that we serve.
